- Safety: Establish company environmental, health and safety policies and transportation standards; monitor and evaluate safety and environmental programs and training for compliance and effectiveness; develop and implement safety and environmental programs with personnel training; establish and manage facility-specific environmental and safety regulations; provide assistance and information to resolve fleet-related insurance claims including vehicle accidents, OS (over, shortage and damage), workers compensation, hazardous materials, unemployment and property claims.
- Human Resources: Plan staffing needs; hire and assign qualified employees; train employees on policies and procedures; monitor, report and enforce compliance with policies and procedures; maintain personnel records; audit driver qualification files; establish, manage and negotiate employee compensation, incentive programs and benefits for union and non-union personnel; establish career development paths; administer employee performance evaluations; promote a work environment supporting safety, productivity and employee retention.
- Vehicle and Equipment Maintenance: Establish vehicle and equipment requirements; develop functional vehicle and equipment specifications aligned with company strategic plans; establish acquisition, replacement and deployment guidelines; manage development, implementation and upgrading of vehicle and equipment technology; provide guidance on effective vehicle and equipment maintenance; develop programs to reduce maintenance costs and improve reliability; monitor and evaluate maintenance personnel performance; coordinate with vehicle and equipment manufacturers and suppliers regarding maintenance issues and programs.
